Lichens on Graves in Section DD

Cladonia portentosa is growing on two adjacent graves in section DD and yet has not been seen anywhere else in the Cemetery.

“Some species (of Cladonia) are an important food for reindeer and caribou in sub arctic regions . They are used in Scandinavia for producing antibiotics. The bush-like species are dyed and used in flower arrangements, as trees in model railways and in frost resistant wreaths in Germany.”
