THIS PAGE IS IN DEVELOPMENT
Many people visit the cemetery in search of a relative who may be buried here. Finding someone in the 12 acre site can be a daunting task especially when areas of the cemetery still remain relatively overgrown.
The cemetery is divided into sections which have now been physically marked by our volunteers with metal stake section markers and there is a map of these also at the entrance off Higher Buckeridge Road. Within each section are the grave plots which are numbered individually in the register of graves, but not yet physically. So where is someone actually buried?
If you are in the cemetery when our volunteers are working one of them may be able to help you. Otherwise, this series of pages is designed to help.
STEP 1: Click on the INITIAL of your relative’s surname in the NAME table below. This takes you to a page of names grouped by the first two or three letters of the name. Click on the group and then scroll through until you find your relative and note the “plot number” which shows the section they are buried in and the number of the plot in that section. (There may also be a suffix “un” or “co” which indicates “unconsecrated” and “consecrated” ground – basically “un” is the westerly side and “co” the easterly side of the older part of the cemetery). (THIS TABLE IS NOT YET FULLY ACTIVATED)
STEP 2: Click on the Section number in the subsequent SECTION LOOKUP table which will take you to a rough layout of each section together with a list of people buried in the section. (Note that there is duplication of some section letters which are differentiated by the suffixes “un” and “co” which indicate “unconsecrated” and “consecrated” ground – basically “un” is the westerly side and “co” the easterly side of the cemetery). From this list you can link through to the “Findagrave” web-site which shows a photo of the grave and a map which can be used with a smart device to locate the grave when you are in the cemetery.
