Joanna Friend (Entry 12 in the burial register) was buried 27th March 1856 in plot F45
The 1851 census shows Joanna as living in French Street, East Teignmouth. She was a widow and head of the household. Aged 78 she was described as a washerwoman whose birthplace was not known. Living with her was her unmarried daughter, Harriett aged 44, who also a washerwoman. Her birthplace was also not known although she had been baptised on 26 Oct 1806 in Ideford, the daughter of John & Joanna Friend.
According to the burial register Joanna was aged 83 when she died. She was buried in an unbricked grave in consecrated ground. The burial was presided over by Revd William Buller.
