John Cannon was baptised on 01 Jan 1832 in Wolborough son of Daniel & Martha
He married Mary Emma Webber in the first quarter of 1856 which suggests that Mary was pregnant when they married.

The 1861 census shows John & Mary E living in Park Street, West Teignmouth with Francis a son age 6, Minnie E age 2 and Anne H age 4 months. John is described as a Chelsea pensioner. (Research Note: No record of the birth or baptism of Francis has been found).
In 1871 the family was in Daccabridge Road, Kingskerswell and the children then were Francis W age 16, Lottie A age 8, John W age 6 and Florence M age 1. All the children were born in West Teignmouth and John was described as a Chelsea pensioner & labourer
In 1881 the family were still in Daccabridge Road, Kingskerswell, John now described as a plate layer and the only children at home were Florence M age 11 and Albert E age 6 born in Kingskerswell
In 1891 John was a widower, a railway labourer, living in Church Lane Totnes with his son Albert E age 16 a telegraph messenger
According to the burial register the stillborn child was buried in an unbricked grave in consecrated ground. No-one presided over the burial.
