Still born female child of Edwin and Sybilla Sally Piper

Still born female child of Edwin Piper, tailor, and Sybilla Sally his wife (Entry 8 in the burial register) was buried 7th March 1856 adjoining plot F3

Edwin Piper married Sibella Sully Hobbs (or Cybela Sally Hobbs) in the first quarter of 1848 in Exeter.  She seems to have been baptised as Sabella Sally in Poundstock 31 Jan 1819 daughter of John & Mary Hobbs but her name appears with a different spelling in each record.  In 1841 her family were in West Teignmouth

By the time of the 1851 census they were living in Sack Street, West Teignmouth.  Edwin Piper was age 27 by then and working as a tailor employing 1 man, born in Sidmouth.  The record shows that his wife “Cybilla” Piper had been born in Poundstock, Cornwall and was aged 29.  With them were Richard Hobbs, his wife’s unmarried brother age 24 who was a carpenter born in Cornwall, and Richard Thorn an unmarried workman age 23 who was a tailor born in Newton, Devon.

According to the burial register their stillborn daughter was buried in an unbricked grave in unconsecrated ground and no-one presided over the burial.
